Mozy Backup – Great product – even better support

I had an issue with mozy not backing up. Not sure what happened or why but I finally broke down and sent an email to Mozy support.

My first response back from them was in less than 24 hours and it had clear well written instructions for me to follow. Within two emails we had figured out the issue and resolved it.

In case anyone else runs into the problem my backup agent was stuck in a continuous loop trying to connect the server. It never connected, never failed, never did much of anything.

The log looked like this –

22Apr2008 16:22:34 mozybackup.exe: Error: Error sending files to servers: 0x00000009
22Apr2008 17:11:21 mozybackup.exe: Finished backup with code: 0x00000000 0 1 1

Resolution (As provided by Brian from Mozy – Thank you Brian!)
“…you will need to uninstall Mozy, remove the state.dat and conf.dat manually. Once this is done it will ask you if you want to use Mozy’s encryption or create your own code again.”
That was the trick as I had tried uninstalling and reinstalling on my own but because those two values are left behind it never allows you to update it correctly.
Kudos on a job well done Mozy!
